The Law
You must not drive with a breath alcohol level higher than 35 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, or a blood alcohol level of more than 80 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood.
Alcoholic drinks vary so much in strength; it is very difficult to calculate how much you have drunk in terms of the concentration of alcohol in your blood. It very much depends on the individual and such variable factors as sex, height, weight, age, how fast you drink and how quickly the alcohol gets absorbed into your blood stream.
But that's only part of the story. Even at the legal limit of blood alcohol concentration, there is still a 5 times greater risk of being involved in a collision. So if you're going out and you are going to drink, arrange another means of transport.
