Pedestrians

Whether in town or out in the country, we all take walking for granted and seldom think about today's busy traffic conditions.

Have you or anyone you know ever been involved in a 'near miss' situation due to the distraction of talking to friends, listening to music or using a mobile? Do you ever give any thought to wearing the right clothing so you can be clearly seen by approaching motorists, especially at night?

The peak time for pedestrian collisions is the late afternoon and early evening, with a marked increase during the winter months, especially for pedestrians wearing dark clothes. Police statistics show that in around 80% of pedestrian collisions the pedestrian's own actions caused or contributed to the crash.
