Buying a Car
Before you fall in love with the car of your dreams, there are few questions you have to ask yourself.
How much money do I have to spend?
Does this money include the expense of insurance and road tax, which leaves less money to buy the car?
What type of car do I want? Petrol, Diesel, Hybrid, LPG
Consider the cost of running a large engined car. It will cost more to insure, to service and for fuel, and the VED may also be higher
What car would best suit my needs? No point in buying a small two seater if I really need an estate car.
Where should I buy a new or second hand car?
Before you start, do your research. Know what extras each model has; electric windows, air conditioning, power steering etc.
When buying any car, whether privately or from a dealer, it is a good idea to take along someone with you who has a good knowledge about cars. Alternatively, it could worthwhile paying a small fee to have it professionally assessed by a motoring organisation such as the AA or RAC.
A test drive is a good idea and can show up any defects but remember, if you are going to test drive it, check it is fully road legal and you are fully covered by insurance to drive the vehicle, making sure it is taxed and MOT'd.
