Young drivers

Excellent - you’ve passed all the tests and ripped up those L-plates…now the fun begins!

With this new found freedom comes responsibility for yourself, your passengers and other road users – because as a young driver you are more likely to be involved in a crash than an older driver.

FACT
16 young drivers crash every day in Scotland
1 young person is killed every week
17 are seriously injured – disabled or scarred for life

car crash

Things like vehicle control, inappropriate speed, lack of concentration and peer pressure mean young drivers take more risks behind the wheel.

That’s why young drivers are encouraged to attend a TEST presentation. The Traffic Education and Support Team (TEST) comprises experienced Strathclyde Police traffic officers who deliver invaluable advice in a multi-media presentation format to drivers aged 17 - 25, as well as all other road users.

TEST will explain why crashes happen and how to avoid them through:-

CONCENTRATION • OBSERVATION • ANTICIPATATION

Tips and advice
Don’t let others distract you, don’t let others tell you how to drive – it’s your licence not theirs.

Keep your eyes and ears open to everything going on around you.

Think what might happen ahead and how you will deal with it. To help with all this slow down. Remember - six or more penalty points on your licence within two years of passing your test means - BYE BYE LICENCE, HELLO L-PLATES!

TEST can help - call on 0141 337 1725 and find out how to help yourself to be a safer driver.
